On June 26 at about 2:51 a.m., aresident in the 1100 block of Pico Boulevard called to report that a bicycle had just been stolen from a neighbor's porch.
The reporting party described the thief as a black malewearing a black hoodie and carrying a flashlight. He was last seen riding the purloined pink beach cruiser westbound on Pico Boulevard and out of sight.
While the initial responding officers made contact with the witness and victim, other patrol officers located and detained the suspect at the corner of Lincoln and Pico boulevards. Officers transported the witness and victim to the location; the witness positively identifiedthe suspect, and the victim identifiedher bicycle.
The suspect, later identified as Ramziddin Rasheed, was searched subsequent to his arrest for petty theft and found to be in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. He was subsequently booked for the theft and drugs at the Santa Monica Jail.
Rasheed, 36, transient, had bail set at $1,000.
