On September 1, at about 12:40 p.m. officers responded to a radio call for service of an assault and battery that had just occurred at 4th Street and Arizona Avenue.
The victim indicated he was in the 1300 block of 3rd Street Promenade when unprovoked the suspect approached him from behind. The suspect punched the victim one time in the body.
The victim grabbed the suspect. The suspect was able to break away and fled northbound. The victim followed the suspect and called the police. The suspect was located in the 1200 block of 3rd Street Promenade. Steven Christopher Johnson, 41, homeless, was taken into custody without incident and booked for assault and battery.
