PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks and members of the Santa Monica Police Department invite residents and business owners to celebrate the 29th annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
National Night Out will involve over 15,325 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. The event is held in the Santa Monica Civic Center parking lot from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This event is designed to both celebrate the relationship between the police force and community and to generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts. The event strengthens the neighborhood and police partnership that allows Santa Monica to be safe as well as sends a message to criminals that the neighborhoods are organized, united and willing to fight back, police said.
The event, which is sponsored by the Santa Monica Police Officer's Association, 7-Eleven, Ocean Park Pizza, La Monarcha Bakery, Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Chabad Santa Monica, will showcase the SMPD's personnel and equipment. Local bicycle vendors, Safe Kids, a rock climbing wall, carnival games, food trucks and more will all be present for entertainment.
