Santa Monica police department officers responded to 225 San Vicente Blvd. regarding a vandalism in progress. The suspect used an unknown blunt object and broke several apartment windows, vehicle windows, security cameras, a fire hose cabinet and pulled fire alarms inside the apartment complex. Officers learned the suspect resides at the same apartment complex. Attempts were made to apprehend the suspect at his residence, but he refused to come out. The suspect stated he had a firearm and would shoot officers if they tried to enter his residence. Officers did not enter the residence and took a report for felony vandalism. On June 12, the suspect was observed in court for an unrelated case and was arrested without incident for the vandalism that occurred on June 8.
Alberto Martin, Jr., 23, of Santa Monica was booked for vandalism, resisting arrest and violating a court order. His bail was set at $20,000.
