On September 20, at 12:22 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Broadway for a Fight/ADW. Eyewitnesses had observed the suspect punching and kicking the victim multiple times in the head/face area. Another witness observed the suspect use a shovel to strike the victim. When officers arrived on scene, the victim was unconscious with severe facial and head trauma. The victim was transported to the local hospital, where he is expected to survive. Detectives were called out to the scene and able to get an identification on the suspect. The suspect was found on September 21, in the early morning hours and taken into custody without incident. Jamil Lanier Warren, 28, homeless, was booked for attempted murder and has a bail of $1,000,000.
