On May 29
SMPD officers responded to the 300 block of PCH for a fire in the bluffs. Upon their arrival, they located smoke and identified what appeared to be a homeless encampment in the nearby area. SMFD responded and extinguished the fire. An individual nearby admitted to attempting to cook eggs in a self-made fire pit. The occupant of the encampment was arrested for a violation of Municipal Code 4.08.095(a) – Public Camping and 4.55.100(A)MC for starting a public fire.
