SMPD Officers responded to the 1400 block of 2nd St. for a Battery that had just occurred. The female victim spoke to officers and relayed that she had been standing in front of Wells Fargo with her bags in a pushcart in front of her. Suddenly, the victim felt two blows to the head and turned to see a male suspect behind her. The male suspect grabbed her bag and ran away while the victim chased after him. Police were able to locate and arrest Todd Dupree Nelson for 211 PC- Robbery. A criminal history search revealed multiple prior arrests for which he is on parole. Nelson was additionally charged with 3056 PC- Parole Violation.
