On June 26 at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of 4th Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that earlier in the day, an employee at the location was involved in an incident where the suspect attempted to enter the building and charge his cell phone without authorization. During a verbal altercation, the suspect spilled his cup of coffee and demanded that the victim pay for it. The victim refused and continued to explain that the suspect was not allowed on the property. With the assistance of PD personnel, the suspect eventually left the building and the victim declined to press charges. The suspect returned later that evening and once again demanded that someone buy him a cup of coffee and proceeded to swing his arm at the victim, striking him. The suspect, 64 year old Ali Gholami was arrested and transported to the Santa Monica Jail. His bail was set at $20,000 with an upcoming July 21st court date.
