Santa Monica PD Officers responded to Ocean Ave./Colorado regarding a subject who was wielding a knife and threatening a harbor guard. Upon police arrival the subject refused to drop the weapon and spewed nonsensical statements while making sudden movements towards the knife in his waistband. Officers from the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were on scene to attempt to persuade the subject to cooperate. Eventually, one officer began to deploy his taser which caused enough of a distraction to handcuff the subject without further incident. Paul Carl Pitts was sent to the hospital for medical evaluation and once cleared was booked at the Santa Monica Jail for Brandishing.
