Officers arrived at Vons on the 700 block of Broadway regarding a Fight. Upon arrival, security relayed that the subject had attempted to steal items. Security confronted the subject and the subject returned the items and left. About ten minutes later, the subject returned and security again asked him to leave, this time escorting him out. While security walked back towards Vons, the subject hit the security guard with a cane. Elijah Timothy Sumler was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
