On Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the AM/PM located at 332 Pico Blvd. Based on the information relayed from dispatchers to the officers, an individual, later identified as DeAndre Turner entered the location and stole a beanie from a rack in the store. Upon exiting, he began screaming unintelligible words at other patrons in the parking lot. When asked by staff to leave the property, Turner reportedly became aggressive but ultimately compiled. Moments later, Turner returned with a large knife in hand, but was deterred by staff wielding pepper spray. Turner was located nearby, arrested and transported to the Santa Monica Jail. He remains in police custody pending a March 14 court appearance.
