On Saturday, July 10 at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery near 9th and Colorado Ave. Witnesses stated the subject of the investigation approached the victim with a knife and forcefully removed their necklace. Based on the description provided, officers searched the area and detained Joe Billy Maddox , a 59-year-old male, near the 700 block of Colorado. Maddox was found to be in possession of two knives at the time of detention. After booking Maddox at the Santa Monica Jail it was determined he had an outstanding $100,000 felony warrant for crimes in the West Hollywood area and a $35,000 warrant for drug-related crimes in LAPD’s Wilshire Area. At the time of this report, Maddox remains in custody with court dates of July 15th and July 27th. SMPD Officers are seeking felony charges for the armed robbery.
