DOWNTOWN - Law enforcement officials are looking for at least one suspect connected to six bank robberies, including one in Santa Monica.
According to a release by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Sheriff's Department officials and the FBI responded to a report of a bank robbery in Lomita, Calif. Friday morning.
Law enforcement officials believe the suspect is responsible for five other bank robberies, all of which occurred in the last week including one on Tuesday in Santa Monica.
The suspect is described as African American or Latino with a dark complexion, stocky build and possibly a skin condition. In bank surveillance photos, he's seen wearing a Detroit Tigers baseball hat, which earned him the nickname "Tiger Bandit."
During the robberies, the suspect demands cash in various denominations. Officials believe that the Tiger Bandit might be two men working together and entering banks separately, according to the release.
