On June 4 at about 7 p.m.,Santa Monica police officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of 11th Street after neighbors called about a domestic disturbance.
When the officers arrived, they found the suspect arguing with his mother. After separating the two, officers learned the suspect had thrown a canvas money bag, which was filled with documents and checks, at his mother. The bag struck the mother on the back and left a visible injury.
The mother told the officers her son has become increasingly hostile toward her since he returned home from college but had never struck her until now.
The suspect, identified as Takechiyo John Ikuno, 23, of Santa Monica, was then taken into custody and booked at the Santa Monica jail for domestic violence. Bail was set at $1,000.
