Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Ocean Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. The comments of the call stated a subject attacked the victim with a beer bottle. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim was a security guard for a local restaurant who had observed a gentleman disturbing patrons seated in the outdoor dining area earlier in the evening. The security guard approached the suspect and asked him to leave. When the suspect turned to leave, the victim followed him a few paces away from the restaurant before the suspect suddenly turned and threw a bottle at him, striking him on the side of the chest. The suspect, Jerad Dunkin, was identified by the victim and subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Santa Monica Jail for booking. A records check of Dunkin revealed he was a wanted person out of Arkansas for forgery. Dunkin was booked for 245(a)(1)PC -assault with a deadly weapon.
