Everyone was trying to beat the heat on Saturday, including locals’ four-legged friends. Main Street was shut down between Ocean Park Blvd. and Strand Ave. to celebrate all things furry, as the Day of the Dog festival hit the city for the second annual occasion. With temperatures approaching 90 degrees Fahrenheit, pups of all sizes were intent on cooling down, using various sprinkler and water stations to stay hydrated. The festival also included a 100-foot pool party for dogs to give their whole body a reprieve from the heat, as well as an area where they could play in a makeshift snow pile. Aside from the cool offerings, dogs and their owners were able to go into multiple photo booths, get samples of pet exhibitor products and eat specially-made treats at various booths.
