The Santa Monica College Music Department is pleased to present the 2021 Fall Jazz Series, with performances by MFUO, Jon Mayer and Darek Oles, and The Lineage Trio.
The popular concert series opens with MFUO on Friday, September 24. All concerts are held at 7 p.m. in the Music Hall at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica.
Tickets are available at the door and cost $10 (cash only). Proof of vaccination required at door. Seating is on a first-arrival basis.
The SMC Fall 2021 Jazz Series lineup is:
• Friday, September 24: MFUO. Four legendary musicians — guitarist Jacques Lesure, organist Pete Kuzma, percussionist Christian Moraga, and drummer Marvin “Smitty” Smith — join together as an organ quartet to perform a concert of exciting contemporary jazz.
• Friday, October 15: Jon Mayer/Darek Oles Duo. Master pianist Jon Mayer and renowned bassist Darek “Oles” Oleszkiewicz — two members of the elite class of musicians with reputations that extend to the worldwide jazz community — team up as a duo for a special concert.
• Friday, November 12: The Lineage Trio. Groundbreaking group with three of the finest young musicians in jazz — guitarist Graham Dechter, bassist Alex Frank, and drummer Ryan Shaw — carry the tradition forward with a not-to-be-missed performance.
