The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says a deputy fatally shot a burglary suspect who was armed with two large kitchen-type knives.
The shooting occurred Sunday morning in unincorporated South El Monte when deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress.
The department says deputies encountered a 40-year-old man who walked away from them and into a street, then suddenly turned and advanced toward the deputies with a knife in each hand.
One deputy fired at the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
