A would-be bank robber was arrested in Santa Monica on April 18 after attempting to steal from the Bank of America location at 1430 Wilshire Blvd.
Grenville Robinson, 39, entered the bank at about 9:25 a.m. on April 18. According to police, he waited in line before presenting the teller with a note demanding $3,000. Robinson allegedly claimed he had a gun but the teller hesitated and Robinson eventually exited the bank without any money.
He was arrested as he exited the bank. The demand note was recovered. No weapon was recovered.
According to police, Robinson has a criminal history in both Oklahoma and Alabama including a prior conviction in 2004 for bank robbery. Robinson claimed to be homeless at the time of his arrest.
