“Sailing to the Edge of Time: The Promise, the Challenge and the Freedom of Ocean Voyaging”
Join organizers on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey for a fascinating lecture presentation by Deep Ocean Sailor and celebrated author John Kretschmer. His presentation is based on his newest book, published in November, “Sailing To the Edge Of Time.”
According to Kretschmer, “It's one of my memoir/quasi useful books, but this one looks at the core reasons of why we go to sea. It's philosophical and funny, and filled with stories, some terrifying and others just descriptions of those magical days under sail. The talk mirrors the book, and my stories are well honed. I have given talks all over the world, from the Royal Cork YC in Ireland, to the Explorer's Club in NYC. The overriding premise of the book and the talk is simple, "time is what really matters, it's the currency of our lives, and how we spend it is what defines our life. My premise is that time spent sailing, especially deep ocean sailing, is time well spent. “
