The Santa Monica Elks Lodge 906 celebrated Patriot Day at the Lodge. The Lodge presented the Frank J. Italiano Americanism Award for Patriotism “Patriot of the Year” to Dana Camarillo. Dana Camarillo is the sixteenth and current recipient. Dana is a retired Los Angeles County Sheriff. She has donated several hours of service to her community through the Girl Scouts of America. She helps the lodge with Scouting issues and veteran events. Dana resides in Los Angeles with her two girls. The Frank J. Italiano Americanism Award (Santa Monica Elks 906 Patriot of the Year) is a recognition that is for an Elk of outstanding service to lodge and country. Further awardees must be nominated and accepted only by the Italiano Americanism Committee consisting of all the past recipients. Frank J. Italiano was a dedicated member of the Santa Monica Elks for over 50 years. He was a veteran and incredibly involved in the community. Frank was a member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He was a member of several charity-boards in Santa Monica to include the Boys and Girls Club.
