On Sunday, January 16 at approximately 5:50 p.m.
SMPD officers responded to the 900 block of 16th Street for a burglary call. Upon arrival officers discovered an alley-facing garage that had been broken into. Witnesses provided information regarding the suspect along with the items stolen, a bicycle worth over $5,000. The owner of the bicycle was able to provide officers with a description of the bike, photos, serial numbers and the exact location as the bike was equipped with a GPS device. Officers visited the bike’s location and arrested Elden Calderon, a 25-year-old male from Los Angeles, for the burglary and returned the bike to the rightful owner. Calderon remains in police custody.
