The City of Santa Monica has retained SeltzerFontaine, an executive search firm, to conduct a recruitment for the City Attorney position. As part of the process, they are seeking community input regarding the qualities and characteristics of a City Attorney for Santa Monica and the challenges the Attorney may have.
Qualified applicants must be:
A current member in good standing of the State Bar of California with a minimum of 10 years of broad legal practice experience including the representation of public entity clients in California.
Have extensive, proven management experience, including managing budgets and supervising other attorneys.
Have significant experience in municipal representation which may also include litigation, real estate development/land use, housing, civil rights, labor relations, contracts, administrative law, criminal, and tort liability.
Have superior academic credentials and excellent oral and written communication skills.
