Elks Scholar Service Trip

Elks: The Elks Summer of 2021 Scholar Service Trip is underway in Santa Monica. The Scholars came to Santa Monica Elks 906 for dinner and to help with a Cornerstone Grant of putting kits together for Kits of Kindness for Veterans. After dinner, the Scholars entered the 2021 Santa Monica Elks Scholars Olympic Games. 15 scholars from around the country competed for the Gold Medal and all its rewards. The scholars were treated to donuts and the top medalists were able to choose their reward donut first. Donuts provided by DK Donuts in Santa Monica. Past Grand Exalted Ruler Robert Duitsman was on hand to present the Gold Medal to Leah T. along with Exalted Ruler Jaynee Roszhart, PER. The scholars served at Harvest Home, which transforms the lives of pregnant women experiencing homelessness by providing housing, support, and programs that equip women to become great mothers. In L.A. County 7,000 women experience homelessness at some point during their pregnancy. Harvest Home provides shelter beds for 10. Today, the scholars sorted baby clothing, inventoried supplies, organized books, and made welcome home baskets for the new mothers.
