An SMPD PSO (Public Safety Officer- civilian position) requested officer assistance on the 100 block of Colorado. Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle stalled on the road with the driver attempting to start it while the alarm was sounding. The driver told officers he had just purchased the car the day prior. Dispatch advised that the vehicle had been reported stolen and the victims were contacted. One of the victims relayed that he used the vehicle to do work deliveries and had left the keys in the ignition while dropping off a package as it was missing upon his return. Sergio Gonzalo Diaz was arrested for 10851 VC- Unlawful Taking Or Driving Of A Vehicle.
