March is known as Women’s Month. The March gathering of Committee For Racial Justice (CRJ) on March 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. by zoom will focus on supporting self-care and wellness for women.
Taking care of ourselves and our loved ones should be a guiding principle for everyone. Yet, creating self-care routines during a pandemic has been an obstacle course – especially for women of color. While learning to navigate through what appears to be a “new normal,” Black women stand at the crossroads of this reckoning as leaders, nurturers, and providers. This workshop will explore why self-care matters and how to put self-care into action – empowering the mind, body, and spirit.
Resource panelists include Dr. Taska Moore, M.D., a board-certified Obstetrician & Gynecologist. She’s spent more of her career working exclusively in underserved communities. Working in such communities of limited means presents challenges including battling diseases caused or worsened by poor health choices. Dr. Moore is determined to provide high-quality care to women with socioeconomic challenges and provides resources to empower them with better options. As a certified ACE health coach for the last 5 years, she uses her knowledge regarding exercise and nutrition to guide patients in their journey toward healthier lives. Dr. Moore will speak on honoring a queen’s temple (body) – and how to maintain optimal health throughout every stage of a woman’s life cycle.
FIT-lanthropist, Corey Taylor is rapidly becoming a leading innovator in physical fitness. He has increased the quality of life for entertainment and professional sports figures, which has added value to their career worth. Such clients include actress, Charmin Lee; Emmy-nominated actress, Niecy Nash; NFL great, Darrin Walls; Grammy Board artist, Mumu Fresh; and award-winning filmmaker, Ava Marie DuVernay. A full-time vegan athlete and amateur boxer, Corey Taylor will provide fitness insight on the power of health and mindfulness.

Nakeya is licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California. She has more than 12 years of experience in developing and running mental health-related, community-focused programming.
