Manhunt underway in Southern California after officer shot
A manhunt was underway Monday in San Diego County for a 27-year-old man suspected of shooting a police officer responding to a domestic violence call at a home in the city of Escondido, north of San Diego.
The Escondido officer was in stable condition at a local hospital hours after being shot at about 3 a.m., according to a press release from the police department.
The suspect fled the home with a high-powered rifle. Multiple law enforcement agencies were searching for the suspect identified as Anastasio Rosas Jr. He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt and shorts.
Authorities closed several area streets and a section of Interstate 15.
