On November 20,
Two SMPD Officers were dispatched to a call of “Unknown Trouble” at approximately 6:05 p.m. on the Promenade near Santa Monica Blvd. Upon arrival, officers determined a male subject had knocked over a City of Santa Monica electric traffic board. The sign board weighed upwards of 400 pounds and stood approximately 7 feet tall. Moving such a large item could cause serious injuries to passersby. The suspect was later identified by a witness as Casey Casper, 38 years old. Officers were able to review video footage providing confirmation of the witness’ statement. Casper was apprehended a few blocks away after toppling a second traffic sign. Casper was arrested for 594(a)(2) – Vandalism.
