On October 3, at 4 p.m.
Officers were at the Santa Monica Place when they were notified by security there was a male subject waving a knife around in an aggressive manner. The male subject was last seen walking westbound on 2nd Street. Officers went to find the subject and observed him throw what resembled a knife at the driver’s window of a sedan that was exiting the parking structure. The driver had their window down when the knife was thrown. The passenger of the vehicle got out of the car to confront the suspect. The suspect took a fighting stance challenging the passenger to fight. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without further incident. No one was injured by the suspect’s actions. Hamilton Cartwright, 46, homeless, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and a parole violation. He was denied bail.
