Malibu Mayor Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner will discuss the City’s major events, highlights and achievements over the last year, the state of the City’s finances, and upcoming major projects and issues that will define the year ahead during the Malibu Chamber of Commerce’s 35th Annual State of the City address on Friday, May 10, 9:30 a.m. at Malibu City Hall.
“I hope that everyone in the community can join us to reflect together on what has truly been a pivotal year for Malibu, as we have achieved major goals, faced unprecedented catastrophe, and started to heal, recover and rebuild,” Mayor Wagner said.
Mayor Wagner will be joined by Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and California State Senator Henry Stern giving updates on current and upcoming local, county and state issues that impact the Malibu community. Barbara Bruderlin, Executive Director of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce, will give an update on the Chamber’s work with Malibu businesses.
“Malibu's spirit is something precious that all of the residents of Malibu understand and cherish,” Barbara Bruderlin, Executive Director, Malibu Chamber of Commerce. “Join us as we come together to reflect on our tribulations and refocus on Malibu rising."
Every year, the State of the City features speakers including County and State representatives, and is attended by more than 100 guests, including business and civic leaders, and representatives from schools, non-profit organizations, and houses of worship.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so RSVPs are recommended. The address will be immediately followed by a reception mixer with a gourmet brunch in the Multi-Purpose Room for $30 per person.
