On Nov. 25 at about 11:40 a.m., Santa Monica police officers responded to a radio call at a business in the 1400 block of Wilshire Boulevard. A female transient (later identified as Elizabeth Migwi) entered the store and threatened the employee.
When the first officer arrived, he was flagged down by the employee outside the back entrance. The employee told the officer the suspect had locked him out. Additional officers arrived and were able to enter the building from the front door, taking the hostile and combative Migwi into custody. She kicked one of the officers in the leg twice while she was being escorted to the police car.
Once she was seated in the back of the patrol car, the victim told the officers he had been sitting inside by himself when Migwi approached him at the front desk and started ranting about celebrities. When the employee asked her to leave, Migwi responded, “I'm not leaving until everyone dies! I have a knife.” She then pulled a small towel from the inside of her pants and started wiping the counter with it.
Migwi picked up a glass mason jar and a small glass vase and threw them at the employee, narrowly missing him. As the employee fled in fear, she proceeded to damage several items in the store including a computer monitor and a phone.
Migwi was in possession of a knife. She was arrested and booked for threatening the employee, assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery on a police officer and felony vandalism. Bail was set at $50,000.
