The California Transportation Commission (CTC), Southern California Association of Governments, and Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce want to hear from the Los Angeles Basin residents about how they view current highway and road conditions, and proposals to stabilize funding for transportation-system repairs and maintenance.
These organizations are hosting a public forum at the California Department of Transportation-District 7 office (100 S. Main Street, Los Angeles) on July 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to discuss and generate feedback on those issues.
Topics to be covered at the forum include the local, regional and state role in funding road projects and maintenance, the impacts and reasons for California's and Southern California's deteriorating transportation system, proposed short-term solutions to stabilize road repair and maintenance funding over the longer term.
CTC Commissioners Yvonne Burke and Fran Inman, CTC Executive Director Will Kempton, Department of Transportation Director Malcolm Dougherty, Southern California Association of Governments Regional Council Member and Transportation Committee Chair Hon. Alan D. Wapner, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Gary Toebben, Ventura County Transportation Commission Executive Director Darren Kettle, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Interim Deputy Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Wiggins, Port of Long Beach Transportation Policy Manager Allison Yoh, and Port of Los Angeles Senior Director of Government Affairs David Libatique will speak at the event.
