The Santa Monica College Musical Theatre Workshop class will present not one, but two highly entertaining "Comedy Tonight!" shows June 5-7. Each show will be a musical theater revueshowcasing some of the finest musicals from the late 19th century to the present.
The workshop, a co-production of the SMC Theatre Arts and Music departments, is directed by SMC theatre arts professor Perviz Sawoski, with music direction by SMC adjunct music instructor Karen Benjamin.
Sawoski and Benjamin — realizing there were too many good numbers presented in class this semester to fit into one show — decided to present two shows, and include different numbers in each one.
Show 1 is scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, and 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6. Show 2 is scheduled at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 6; and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7. All performances take place in the Theatre Arts Studio Stage, located on the SMC main campus at 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.
