On Nov. 29, at approximately 1:14 a.m.
Patrol officers responded to a call of domestic violence that just occurred in the 1000 block of Marine Avenue. Officers were told the victim and suspect had been dating off and on for the past four months, and tried living together, but after the suspect became abusive the victim asked him to move out. About a week prior, the victim decided to try and repair the relationship and allowed the suspect to move back in. On the night of the 29th, the suspect and victim started to argue. The suspect grabbed the victim's phone and looked through the contacts list. When the victim tried to get her phone back, the suspect grabbed the victim's head with both of his hands and threw her to the ground. The victim said she hit her head on a chair as she fell. The suspect fled the location, taking the victim's cell phone with him. The officers detained the subject on the street, still in possession of the victim's phone. Carl Dwayne Morgan, 43, Santa Monica, was placed under arrest for petty theft and battery and transported to the Santa Monica Jail for booking. His bail was set at $20,000.
On Nov. 29, at 4:25 p.m.
Night watch officers responded to a call of a suspicious person on the Santa Monica Pier. The caller reported that a male suspect was inside a women's restroom stall peering over the wall into other stalls. The officers determined the location of the suspect and knocked on the door. The male suspect exited the stall and told the officers, "All of the men's stalls were taken and I had to go to the bathroom." When the officers asked him if he climbed up to look into the other stalls, the suspect told them he had because he wanted to make sure no one was in the stall next to him. The victim who reported the incident identified the suspect as the male who had looked into her stall while she was inside. Yhwh Daystarr, 35, homeless was arrested for peeping and a probation violation. His bail was set at $10,000.
On Nov. 29, at approximately 8:40 p.m.
Officers responded to the 3100 block of Main Street to investigate a family disturbance. The victim called police to report that the suspect, his girlfriend, had been drinking and was now running through the streets and refusing to give him his phone or keys. The victim and suspect have been dating for about a year, and on the day of the incident started arguing about finances. When the suspect told the victim she wanted to go buy cigarettes, the suspect told her they had no money to do so. The suspect became upset and started throwing items around their apartment; she also pushed the victim several times, scratching the victim on both arms. The suspect left the apartment for several hours, and when she returned she was showing several signs of alcohol intoxication, including red and watery eyes, slurring her words, and a distinct odor of alcohol. When the victim contacted police for assistance in caring for the suspect, she became enraged, struck him on the neck, and spit on him. Raven Thomas Lamb, 23, Santa Monica, was eventually taken into custody in a neighboring apartment and transported to the Santa Monica Jail. Her bail was set at $50,000.
On Nov. 28, at approximately 12:50 p.m.
Patrol officers responded with lights and sirens to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon that just occurred in front of OPCC at 503 Olympic Boulevard. The victim, a paralyzed veteran, was sitting in his wheelchair on the sidewalk when he was approached by the suspect. For unknown reasons, the suspect attacked the victim without provocation, punching him in the face and knocking him to the ground. The suspect then grabbed a glass bottle and struck the victim on the head. OPCC patrons intervened and restrained the suspect until police arrived. The victim suffered a cut on his left eyelid, and two puncture wounds from broken glass on his right arm. Dan Lewis Booker, 45, homeless, was transported for the Santa Monica Jail for booking. His bail was set at $30,000.
On Nov. 28, at about 12:16 p.m.
A day watch patrol officer driving in the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Ashland Avenue was alerted to a possible stolen vehicle in the vicinity. The officer located the U-Haul truck, reported stolen on August 8, 2014. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and detained the driver and passenger for suspicion of vehicle theft. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located multiple fraudulent credit cards and a large bag of tools. The suspect told the officers he didn't know who the tools belonged to and was unable to explain the work he was doing that required tools and the U-Haul truck. Additional fraudulent cards were located in the suspect's pockets. Johnathan Leslie Rogers, 24, Stanton, was arrested for vehicle theft and other theft offenses, including possession of stolen property, and transported to the Santa Monica Jail for booking. His bail was set at $50,000.
On Nov. 28, at about 1:20 p.m.
Officers responded to an "armed robbery" radio call in the 1000 block of Hill Street. It was initially reported that a male and female suspect broke into an apartment where the victims were working and stole a purse and other property. When confronted by one of the victims, the male suspect pulled out a knife and told the victim not to touch the female suspect. The suspects were last seen heading southbound in the alley east of Lincoln Boulevard. The suspects were quickly detained by officers and positively identified by the victims as perpetrators of the robbery. The female suspect was still in possession of the stolen purse. Both suspects were transported to the Santa Monica Jail and booked for robbery, burglary and conspiracy. Kerry Lee Jordan, 27, Los Angeles was denied bail. Brittany Bregel, 30,Pacific Palisades, had bail set at $50,000.
On Nov. 26, at approximately 8:08 a.m.
SMPD officers and detectives arrested an adult male suspect at his home in Whittier pursuant to a warrant issued by a Superior Court judge in the Santa Monica courthouse. The arrestee is suspected of raping a 14-year-old girl in November or December of 2013 while visiting the Santa Monica Pier. The victim reported the crime to police in August of 2014. Subsequent interviews with the victim's family led to information used to obtain the warrant.Refugio Mendez, Whittier, had bail set at $20,0000.
On Nov. 26, at approximately 2:52 p.m.
Officers assigned to patrol the downtown area observed the suspect walking his bicycle northbound across Broadway at the intersection with 2nd Street, crossing against the red light. The officers stopped the suspect in the 1400 block of 2nd Street for the Vehicle Code violation and asked for identification. The suspect told the officers he did not have any identification card, but claimed he had been issued one in California in the past. Despite repeated attempts, the officers were unable to locate any record based on the information given by the suspect. They subsequently transported him to the police station so that he could be identified and booked.David Mihalis, 41, Montecito, had bail set at $5,000.
On Nov. 24, at approximately 5:50 a.m.
Officers patrolling the downtown area noticed the suspect walking back and forth on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of 5th Street. The suspect was extremely agitated, walking back and forth and yelling obscenities. As the officers approached, the suspect walked to an unoccupied parked vehicle and kicked the right rear door. The officers could hear the suspect's foot striking the side of the vehicle. They detained the suspect and discovered a small dent and a fresh shoe scuff on the car. A notice card was left for the vehicle's owner and Bryan Christopher DiBucci, 45, Santa Monica, was arrested for vandalism and transported to the jail for booking. His bail was set at $500.
