Santa Monica Daily Press Publisher Ross Furukawa conducts a one on one conversation with Matt Millerin anticipation of the upcoming election for California US Representative, 33rd District.
Matt Miller is running for his first elected office, but brings years of experience in business and government on a national level. His passion is education. "California used to lead the nation, now we're near the bottom in per-student spending. I would use the federal government to elevate the teaching profession," raising salaries to make it "THE most attractive profession in America for young people." As a senior advisor in the Clinton White House budget office, he says he became "quite familiar with the ins and outs of various grants programs, and would fight for fresh funds" to help private and government agencies attack the problem of homelessness here.
