Editor:
I'd like to comment on Scott Bellomo's letter comparing Mitt Romney to JFK ("Name that candidate," Letters to the Editor, Sept. 12). True enough about their similarly privileged backgrounds, but the public personas of these two men make them polar opposites. JFK could be bewitchingly charming. But the Mitt? Well, the Mitt is just the Mitt; earnest, sincere, dull, technocratic and probably unimaginative — very unbewitching.
These things matter in an era in which most people's exposure to political candidates is through electronic media. The Mitt may well be far more competent than JFK ever was, but he lacks "star quality." The Mitt, unfortunately, is not at all competent in presenting himself effectively
