In your front page article of Aug. 13 ("Councilman Shriver won't seek reelectionn"), I read that Councilman [Bobby] Shriver won't seek reelection to the City Council. Bad news for Santa Monicans.
There has been a trend to transform our charming, unique city into a block of high-rise condos. The council members receive election money from the developers, then vote for the developers' causes. Example, [Mayor Richard] Bloom.
The only council member I know of who has had a more intelligent and honorable outlook has been Shriver. Who is going to take his place?
