Santa Monica police officers wrote 16 tickets to motorists who failed to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk at the corner of Pico Boulevard and 31st Street on Wednesday.
Officers were in the area from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. They used a police employee to act as a decoy, something which has been deemed legal by the courts, said SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.
Officers conducted the sting after receiving complaints from residents in the area that vehicles do not yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
