Following a co-championship in the Ocean League, the Samohi Vikings were honored for their strong season Tuesday with the announcement of All-Ocean League teams.
Leading the pack was pitcher/first baseman Alonzo Gonzalez, who was named co-MVP. Fellow pitcher and left fielder Adam Padilla was named Most Outstanding Player. Making the first team was catcher Julien Solomita and pitcher/first baseman Ethan Corn. Shortstop/pitcher Andrew Montanari and infielder Mason Landis made the second team. First-year coach Philip-Guide was named co-coach of the year.
The reserved Philip-Guide, while happy to receive the honor, was humble in his response.
“If there is any credit, it’s to the kids,” he said.
