It’s one and done for the Santa Monica High School baseball team.
The Vikings surrendered a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh inning to Quartz Hill only to lose 11-10 in extra innings during the first round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs on Thursday.
“It’s a tough way to go out,” Samohi Head Coach Sheldon Philip-Guide said. “Hopefully, the seniors will remember that it was a good season, and the underclassmen will hopefully learn from it.”
Samohi’s Alonzo Gonzalez started the game, giving up three earned runs through six innings. Senior catcher Julien Solomita hit a homer in the losing effort.
