SAMOHI — This season’s version of the Ocean League is a case of the haves and the have nots.
Santa Monica, Culver City and Beverly Hills are log-jammed atop the standings at 3-1, while Inglewood, Hawthorne and Morningside are struggling at 1-3.
With three weeks left to determine the league champion and a favorable playoff seeding, Samohi will travel to Morningside (4-14 overall) today to begin to sort the mess out. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. The two teams will meet again on Thursday at Samohi. That game will also begin at 3:15 p.m.
The Samohi Vikings enter the game 10-10 overall and 3-1 in league. The Vikings are coming off a 10-2 loss to Taft on Saturday as part of the Redondo Tournament.
St. Monica travels to Mary Star<p>
St. Monica’s baseball team continues its playoff push this week with a pair of games against Camino Real League rival Mary Star of the Sea.
The two teams currently tied for first place in league will begin the two-game set today at Mary Star. The game begins at 3:15 p.m. The teams will complete the series Thursday at Marine Park. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
St. Monica is currently 11-8 overall and 5-4 in league. Mary Star is 7-12 overall and 5-4 in league. Mary Star got the better of St. Monica in March during a 15-5 victory.
New Roads continues strong season<p>
New Roads and its 11-5 record head into a week of Harbor League action that will go a long way toward determining league supremacy.
The Jaguar’s baseball team will host Animo Leadership on Wednesday at North Venice Little League. They will also host Rolling Hills Prep on Friday. Both games are scheduled for 2 p.m.
New Roads is currently first in league with a 2-0 record. Animo is 0-2 in league, while Rolling Hills Prep is 1-0.
Surging Xrds make homestand<p>
Crossroads’ baseball team, winners of three straight, hosts a pair of home games against Delphic League rival Kilpatrick this week.
The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Clover Park. The second game will take place Friday, also at 3 p.m.
Crossroads has improved its record to 9-7 overall and 2-0 in league play. Kilpatrick is 1-11 overall and 1-2 in league.
