Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2:27 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a report of shoplifting. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said they observed a man and a woman with three children steal nine pairs of socks and four wallets valued at $128. The couple allegedly hid some of the merchandise in one of the children’s strollers and then exited the store, failing to pay for the items. Security held the couple until police arrived. Officers placed the couple under arrest for commercial burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. Child Protective Services was notified. The suspects were identified as Akbar Alabaf Yousefi, 36, of Van Nuys, and Altanzul Tsagaankhuu, 31, of Sherman Oaks. Bail was set at $20,000.
Friday, Feb. 13, at 2:40 p.m.,
Police responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a report of shoplifting. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said they observed a woman steal a pair of shoes and two purses valued at $122.99. The suspect was detained until police arrived. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for petty theft. She was cited out with a future court date. She was identified as Marlize Sturman, 29, of Santa Monica.
Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7:34 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of the Third Street Promenade — Sephora — regarding a report of a theft that just occurred. A security guard at the cosmetics store told police he saw the suspect place several items into her purse and then left the store, failing to pay for the items. The security guard confronted the suspect and asked her to return to the store. She refused and walked off. The guard followed her until police arrived. Officers arrested the woman as she was attempting to drive out of Parking Structure No. 3. She was booked for grand theft. The cosmetics were valued at $595. She was identified as Jennifer Lyn Bilotti, 30, of Pasadena. Her bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10:25 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2800 block of Main Street regarding a report of a man causing a disturbance inside a bar. When officers arrived, they detained the suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Santa Monica Jail for booking. During the process, officers discovered the suspect was in possession of a crack pipe that was hidden in his shoes. Officers also learned that the suspect allegedly lied about his name and had an outstanding warrant. He was booked for public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to a police officer and for an outstanding warrant. No bail was set. The suspect was identified as Hasaan Baxter, 33, a transient.
Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 2:47 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2800 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — Comfort Inn — after receiving a call to check on the welfare of a man staying at the motel. Officers went to the motel and made contact with a man staying in the room in question. Officers discovered the man was in possession of a heroin and a hypodermic needle. He was placed under arrested for possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a hypodermic needle. He was identified as Michael Cameron Bauer, 20, from Oregon. His bail was set at $10,000.
Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 a.m.,
Detectives responded to the 1400 block of 104th Street in Los Angeles where they arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a strong arm robbery on Feb. 7 at about 10 p.m. in the 1400 block of Sixth Street. The juvenile, whose name was not released, was also suspected of committing two additional strong arm robberies that same evening. He was brought to the Santa Monica Jail where he was booked for robbery.
Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 4:59 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of 18th Street regarding a report of vandalism. A witness told officers that an ex-tenant who was recently evicted from the apartment returned and purposely ripped a window screen. Officers located the suspect in the area and placed him under arrest for vandalism. The suspect was identified as Gerald James Sullivan, 58, a transient. His bail was set at $500.
Monday, Feb. 9, 9:10 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Pacific Street regarding a report of a suspicious person. Witnesses told officers they saw a man attempting to open front doors to multiple homes on the block. At one point the suspect allegedly entered the rear yard of a residence. Officers confronted the suspect and determined he did not have permission to be on the property. He was arrested and booked for prowling. He was cited out with a future court date. The suspect was identified as Jonathan T. Crawford, 39, from Arizona.
