Museums Free-For-All: Got a list of LA museums you haven’t visited yet? Then Saturday is your day as museums all over town are throwing open their doors for free admission with over 30 museums participating, including the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, LACMA, Japanese American National Museum, GRAMMY Museum, the La Brea Tar Pits, the Skirball and more. FREE Papel Picado Workshop at 18th Street Arts Center: Papel picado is a form of traditional Mexican art that dates back to ancient times. This traditional art consists of cutouts that are often strung together with twine to create colorful banners used to decorate for celebrations and festivals. At the end of this workshop, participants will have their very own papel picado garland to take home. All ages. Workshop guidance available for English and Spanish speakers. Free Screening of West Coast Hip Hop Documentary: Santa Monica College (SMC) is set to host a complimentary screening of N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo (2024), a documentary chronicling the history of West Coast Hip Hop and audience Q&A session with Alonzo ‘Grandmaster Lonzo’ Williams, Marq ‘Cli-N-Tel’ Hawkins, and Kim Renard ‘Arabian Prince’ Nazel.
