The Santa Monica Police Department arrested a shotgun-wielding bank robber on Tuesday morning.

According to SMPD, on Dec. 8, at about 9:20 a.m., Santa Monica Dispatch received a call of an armed robbery in progress at the Wells Fargo Bank, 170 Pier involving a man armed with a shotgun.  

The information was quickly provided to the dispatchers who were able to quickly relayed it to officers in the area.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect inside a vehicle exiting the bank parking lot.  Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop at the intersection of Neilson Way and Bicknell. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered a shotgun from the vehicle.
