A man killed himself under the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday morning.
The Santa Monica Police Department responded to the 1600 block of the beach at about 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 21 and found a man had hung himself under the pier. The case was handed over to the Los Angeles County Coroners office who are handling the investigation.
No additional details were available on the Nov. 21 case.
Several individuals have taken their own lives in public locations in the past year.
Four individuals died between September 2018 and August of 2019. SMPD prevented a fifth death in October when they were able to talk an individual out of jumping from a downtown parking structure.
