Dear Editor,
We were alarmed when in 2021 signs were erected to communicate that an outsized development under the legal "Builder’s Remedy" would be coming our way at Ocean Park and Lincoln and there was not a damn thing any residents of the affected neighborhoods could do about it.
Many of us attempted to object and went to meetings held to express our concerns. Futile efforts and the threat of forceful ejection by one or more uniformed cops present if one uttered a "boo" or a guffaw at the lunacy of such a bizarre remedy to our need for affordable housing.
Well nothing seems to be happening except the loss of several essential services that used to be available to local residents-namely a UPS outlet and a mom & pop pharmacy which relocated "due to redevelopment."
It will soon be four years since that sign advertising the forthcoming behemoth of a complex which will make for at least twice that many years of deconstruction/construction noise, particulate pollution, traffic snarls and accidents than residents near the old "Stinkin’ Lincoln" could ever have imagined.
What gives???
