On February 3, at approximately 11:12 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to 4th St and Colorado Ave, in reference to an “Assault with a deadly weapon” call for service. The comments of the call indicated a male black approximately five feet seven inches tall, wearing a blue jacket and cargo pants, was shooting rocks from a slingshot at an ambassador. Further, the suspect was described as having a bow. Officers searched the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect hiding behind a truck. The male, later identified as Joseph Buckhalter, was crouched down behind the hood of the truck and was attempting to conceal himself. Buckhalter was wearing the clothing from the description and had the previously mentioned bow attached to his backpack. Buckhalter was detained while officers continued their investigation. After canvasing the area in front of the parked truck where Buckhalter was hiding, officers located a slingshot with a yellow elastic band. The victims positively identified Buckhalter as the individual that used the slingshot to hit them with rocks. Buckhalter was arrest for 245(A)(1) PC- Assault with a deadly weapon.
