Restaurants, hotels step up to provide for first responders, evacuees

The true heroes of this week have been firefighters and first responders from Los Angeles and beyond, rushing into harm’s way to fight a string of dangerous fires.

To honor these courageous individuals, as well as serve those impacted by the flames, restaurants and hotels in the area have announced a bevy of discounts and other offers. Santa MoniCARES and Santa Monica Travel & Tourism have connected with local businesses and community members to provide these discounts.

A comprehensive list of specials and offers will be shared atsantamonica.com, but some restaurant discounts include:

-The Butcher’s Daughter is teaming with Santa Monica Family YMCA at 1332 6th St. to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to first responders.

-Participating locations of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will have offers to first responders that show their ID in the store through Jan. 17

-Panda Express locations are offering free meals to firefighters and first responders that show their ID through Sunday.

“Our hearts are with you all as we witness the devastating impact of the wildfires throughout the Los Angeles region,” Santa Monica Travel & Tourism President/CEO Misti Kerns said. “I am so thankful to our many generous community members offering their support to those affected by the wildfires and am deeply grateful to all of the first responders and city staff who are working tirelessly to help those in need. Our top priority continues to be the well-being of our residents, businesses, visitors, first responders and our neighboring community members. We hope these donations and offers can be of support during this difficult time.”

There are hotel offers aplenty for first responders and area residents who have had to evacuate due to the fire. At check-in, those who apply should be prepared to show a residential address or first responder status via ID. For a complete list of hotel offers, visit.
