DOWNTOWN — A woman and a man from Camarillo were behind bars today in connection with the murder of aspiring model-actress Juliana Maureen Redding, whose body was discovered in March 2008 in her Santa Monica apartment.
Kelly Soo Park, 44, and Ronnie Wayne Case, 34, were arrested Thursday in Camarillo by Santa Monica police. No motive was given for the killing. Park and Case face charges of murder with special circumstances and conspiracy, according to Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Trisler.
They were both locked up Thursday in Santa Monica and were being held without bail, Trisler said.
Detectives worked “thousands of hours” on the case, in cooperation with law enforcement in Torrance and Oxnard and the FBI, Trisler said.
“The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate this crime and there is the possibility of additional arrests,” Trisler said.
Redding’s body was found in the evening of March 16, 2008 at her home in the 1500 block of Centinela Avenue, Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner’s office said.
“It appears the victim died as a result of an assault,” police said in a statement at the time.
The body was discovered after the woman’s mother called authorities to report she had not been able to reach her daughter, who moved to Santa Monica from Tucson to pursue her acting and modeling career.
A neighbor told ABC7 she had plans to go play pool with Redding, but she hadn’t answered her door and her lights were out.
Trisler urged anyone with information about the Redding’s death to call (310) 458-8488 or (310) 458-8449. Tipsters can also e-mail tipline@smgov.net, Trisler said.
