• Santa Monica High School boys basketball advanced to the semifinals of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section playoffs with a 68-66 overtime win over Perris on Tuesday night. The Vikings, the no. 11 seed in the playoffs, will take on Tesoro High School at Santa Monica College Friday at 7 p.m. Chino Hills and Ventura will make up the other half of the semifinals. The winner of each contest will play for the division championship Saturday, March 7.
• The season has come to an end for St. Monica boys basketball. The Mariners were defeated, 69-72, by Woodcrest Christian in the quarter finals of the CIF-SS Division V-AA playoffs on Tuesday night at St. Monica. Woodcrest Christian advances to play Pacific Hills in the semifinals on Friday. The Mariners came into the playoffs as the no. 12 seed in the division. Woodcrest Christian is the no. 4 seed. St. Monica qualified for the playoffs as an at-large team from the Camino Real League.
